Subject: Genesis of a genre
The short story "The Battle of Dorking" was the genesis of the 'Invasion Literature' genre. It first appeared in Blackwood's Magazine in 1871. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_literature for more info.

This edition was published in late 1914 at the start of WWI with an interesting introduction.
